Mirrorless system cameras – frequently asked questions

Mirrorless cameras combine the image quality of a DSLR with a significantly smaller body. Here are the most frequently asked questions about them.

What is a mirrorless camera?

A camera without a reflex mirror. The image goes directly from the sensor to the screen or electronic viewfinder. That is also where the name mirrorless comes from.

What are the advantages over a DSLR?

Lighter, more compact, often faster in autofocus. Many models shoot silently and have in-body image stabilization – popular for travel and street photography.

How does it differ from a compact camera?

Above all through interchangeable lenses and the larger sensor. You put together your own setup, from wide-angle to telephoto.

Who is it suitable for?

For anyone who wants creative control without carrying heavy equipment – from ambitious beginners to experienced hobby photographers.

Can I use old lenses?

Often yes, with the right adapter, usually manually, sometimes even with autofocus. What works in an individual case depends on the adapter and model – ask us via the contact form.

What accessories are worth it?

A tripod, spare batteries, and depending on the use, an ND filter or a flash. Pay attention to the correct connection of your manufacturer.

What memory card do I need?

Usually SD, SDHC, or SDXC. For 4K video, a fast card with a high write speed is worth it.

How long does the battery last?

Depending on the model, about 250 to 500 shots. The electronic viewfinder uses power, which is why a spare battery is particularly useful here.

How do we assess the condition?

Mirrorless cameras are given one of four classes: Good, Acceptable, Partially Defective, or Defective. Which one it is, you can see from the symbol at the top left of the product image and as a line under the price. More about this: How we check mirrorless system cameras.

Are the battery and charger included?

Usually yes, unless otherwise stated in the product title. Memory cards are not included.

How long does shipping take?

You can find shipping times and payment methods under Shipping and Payment.

How do I return an item?

On the Returns page, you can request a return. Regardless of that, your statutory right of withdrawal applies.
