How do I load film?
Open the back cover, insert the film roll, and pull the film end to the take-up spool. Advance carefully until the film catches cleanly, then close the back cover. Many cameras have a brief guide inside the back cover.
Which battery does my camera need?
Usually a small button cell, such as an LR44 or PX625 – mainly for the light meter. The exact size is indicated in the battery compartment or in the user manual. Batteries are not included.
Does it work without a battery?
Usually, yes. Shutter speeds and shutter releases are purely mechanical on many models – without a battery, only the light meter will be out of order.
What do ASA or ISO mean?
Both indicate how light-sensitive the film is. The higher the value, such as ISO 400, the better it is suited for low light. Set the value on the camera before taking a photo.
How do I rewind the film?
When the film is full, press the film release – usually a small button on the bottom – and slowly wind it back at the top until you no longer feel any resistance. After that, you can remove the film.
How do I focus?
On manual cameras, you turn the focus ring on the lens until the subject is sharp in the viewfinder. Many viewfinders have a split-image aid or a microprism ring that makes this easier.
How do I set the shutter speed and aperture?
You set the exposure time on the camera and the aperture on the lens. Together, both values determine how bright the image will be. If the camera has a light meter, it will show you a recommendation; otherwise, the Sunny-16 rule or an external light meter will help.
How can I tell if the exposure is correct?
Many cameras show a needle or LED in the viewfinder that indicates over- and underexposure – depending on time, aperture, and ISO. Without a display, a handheld light meter helps.
What do we check?
- Shutter mechanism
- Film transport
- Shutter operation, by sound and visual inspection
- Light meter, if present
- Autofocus, if present
What do we not check?
- Shutter counter
- Self-timer
- Mirror coating and mirror mechanism in detail
Every camera is unique – serial numbers, logos, and minor scratches may vary. We check carefully, but without long-term testing and without test film.
How do we assess the condition?
Each camera is assigned one of six condition classes. Which one it is, you can see from the symbol at the top left of the product image. What the classes mean and what we check: How we check analog SLR cameras.
How long does shipping take?
Shipping times and payment methods can be found under Shipping and Payment.
How do I return an item?
On the Returns page, you can request a return. Regardless of this, your statutory right of withdrawal applies.
How can I contact you?
The easiest way is via the contact form.
