Condition and scope of delivery
What condition is the item in?
You'll find the condition on every product page – as a symbol on the image and as a line below the price. What the individual classes mean is explained on the Condition of the items page.
What does "Partially Defective" mean?
The basic functions work, only a single function fails: on SLR and viewfinder cameras usually the light meter, on point-and-shoot and digital compact cameras usually the built-in flash. What exactly is affected is also stated in the product title, for example "– light meter defective".
What does "New" mean on an item?
For us, "New" means: new in our range. It is not a statement about the condition and does not mean unused.
Why do some accessories have no condition class?
Because there is nothing to distinguish there. We only stock filters, lens hoods, adapters, caps, tripods and bags that are checked and fully functional – we don't take defective or partially defective items into our range in these categories at all.
Is the accessory in the photo included?
The delivery includes only what is named in the product title. Our images are example photos – a strap or cap shown in them is not automatically included.
Are batteries or a rechargeable battery included?
Only if the product title explicitly names them. The same applies to chargers and memory cards.
Is there an operating manual for my camera?
A manual is only included with a camera if the product title names it. We also sell manuals separately under Operating manuals; the flag on the image shows you the language.
Are the items checked?
Yes. We check every item before it goes online, with checks specific to each type of camera – for an SLR, for example, the shutter release, film transport, shutter and viewfinder image. Long-term tests and test shots on film are not part of this. All checkpoints are listed under "How we check" on the Condition of the items page.
Do you also check how accurately the shutter and light meter work?
We don't measure accuracy. On analog cameras, we check that the shutter runs through its speeds and that the light meter responds to light. What we check for each type is listed under "How we check" on the Condition of the items page.
Technology and compatibility
Will this lens fit my camera?
What matters is the mount. It is given in brackets in the item name, for example "(M42)" or "(Canon FD)"; compare it with your camera before buying. If you're unsure, write to us.
How do I find the right adapter?
For lens adapters, both mounts are given in the item name, first the lens, then the camera: "(M42 to Pentax K)" fits an M42 lens to a camera with a Pentax K mount. Compare both details with your lens and your camera before buying.
What do fungus, haze and "Aperture defect" mean?
Fungus is fungal growth in the lens system, haze a slight veil inside it; both can reduce contrast and image quality, the mechanics remain intact. With "Aperture defect", the aperture mechanism is faulty or jammed, everything else works. The limitation is shown in the line below the price and in the product title.
Care
How do I care for my camera and lens?
Store it in a dry place, clean the lenses only with a microfiber cloth and keep the device in a bag. For lenses, suitable cleaning accessories are worthwhile.
