Battery disposal
Information on the disposal of old batteries
The following notice is intended for those who use batteries or products with built-in batteries and no longer resell them in the form in which they were delivered (end users):
1. Free return of used batteries
Batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. You are legally obliged to return used batteries to ensure proper disposal. You can dispose of them at a municipal collection point or at a local retailer. As a battery distributor, we are also obligated to take back used batteries. However, our obligation to take back is limited to used batteries of the type that we carry or have carried as new batteries in our product range. You can therefore either return used batteries of the aforementioned type to us with sufficient postage or hand them in free of charge at our shipping warehouse at the address listed in the imprint.
2. Meaning of the battery symbols
Batteries are marked with the symbol of a crossed-out wheeled bin (see below). This symbol indicates that batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. For batteries containing more than 0.0005 percent mercury by mass, more than 0.002 percent cadmium by mass, or more than 0.004 percent lead by mass, the chemical name of the pollutant used is located below the wheeled bin symbol – where "Cd" stands for cadmium, "Pb" for lead, and "Hg" for mercury.

Description
Rollei 35 rangefinder camera with Tessar 40mm f/3.5
Condition and limitations
Condition: good used condition.
The body shows only slight, age-appropriate signs of wear.
The viewfinder may be slightly dusty or cloudy.
Compact format with its own operating sequence
The classic Rollei 35 combines 35mm film with a retractable Tessar 40 mm f/3.5 lens. Before taking a photo, you pull the lens out and lock it in shooting position. This is part of the camera's design; it is not a camera where simply pressing the shutter button takes care of all preparations.
Deliberately choose time and aperture
You set the exposure time and aperture on separate dials. The CdS light meter helps you adjust these values to the light with its needle display. It does not control the exposure itself. You therefore retain the decision whether a shorter time or a different aperture is more important for your subject.
Manual focus by distance
The distance is set on the lens ring according to the scale. The bright-line viewfinder is used to choose the framing; the camera does not focus automatically. At 40 mm, the angle of view lies between a typical 35mm wide-angle perspective and a 50mm normal lens. You should deliberately coordinate your proximity to the subject and the set distance.
Film and light meter supply
35mm film is used. Transport and rewinding are done manually, with the instructions describing a fixed sequence for cocking and inserting the lens. The light meter requires a suitable battery. The historical battery specifications should be checked separately regarding voltage and design for a modern replacement solution.
A unique type of compact camera
In the classic Rollei 35, compactness is not created by a fully automatic sequence, but by the design with a retractable lens. The small size should therefore match your preferred way of working. A pre-set distance and a deliberately chosen exposure can prepare a snapshot. For constantly changing close-up subjects, however, your own distance estimation remains an important additional step.
