Information on the disposal of old batteries
The following notice is intended for those who use batteries or products with built-in batteries and no longer resell them in the form in which they were delivered (end users):
1. Free return of used batteries
Batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. You are legally obliged to return used batteries to ensure proper disposal. You can dispose of them at a municipal collection point or at a local retailer. As a battery distributor, we are also obligated to take back used batteries. However, our obligation to take back is limited to used batteries of the type that we carry or have carried as new batteries in our product range. You can therefore either return used batteries of the aforementioned type to us with sufficient postage or hand them in free of charge at our shipping warehouse at the address listed in the imprint.
2. Meaning of the battery symbols
Batteries are marked with the symbol of a crossed-out wheeled bin (see below). This symbol indicates that batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. For batteries containing more than 0.0005 percent mercury by mass, more than 0.002 percent cadmium by mass, or more than 0.004 percent lead by mass, the chemical name of the pollutant used is located below the wheeled bin symbol – where "Cd" stands for cadmium, "Pb" for lead, and "Hg" for mercury.

Fast lens, deliberate shutter speed selection
The Revue 400 SE combines a fixed Revuenon 40 mm f/1.7 lens with automatic aperture control. You select the shutter speed, while the camera automatically selects the aperture in automatic mode. This is particularly useful if you first want to decide how short the exposure time should be for your subject.
Focusing with the rangefinder
The distance is set manually. In the bright rangefinder patch, you align the double contours of the subject by turning the focusing ring. The automatic exposure system does not handle this focusing. The wide f/1.7 aperture makes precise focusing particularly important at close distances.
Exposure meter and film speed
The CdS light meter works in conjunction with the film speed you have set. Its viewfinder display helps you assess the selected shutter speed in relation to the available light. 35mm film is used; advancing the film and rewinding remain manual steps. A zoom or interchangeable lens mount is not part of the described design.
Consider the historical power supply
The original manual specifies a 1.3V mercury cell from the PX675 family. This does not imply a general recommendation for any modern replacement type. The form factor and voltage must be properly considered for the light meter to function. Operation without a battery is not guaranteed; the camera should be planned for as an electronically assisted system as a whole.
Combining shutter speed selection and wide aperture
The shutter speed dial is suitable for first determining how motion will be rendered. A very wide aperture can reduce the depth of field; this is precisely when careful rangefinder focusing becomes particularly important. The 400 SE combines these two decisions in a compact body. Therefore, enjoying manual focusing is just as important as the nominal aperture of the Revuenon.
