Battery disposal
Information on the disposal of old batteries
The following notice is intended for those who use batteries or products with built-in batteries and no longer resell them in the form in which they were delivered (end users):
1. Free return of used batteries
Batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. You are legally obliged to return used batteries to ensure proper disposal. You can dispose of them at a municipal collection point or at a local retailer. As a battery distributor, we are also obligated to take back used batteries. However, our obligation to take back is limited to used batteries of the type that we carry or have carried as new batteries in our product range. You can therefore either return used batteries of the aforementioned type to us with sufficient postage or hand them in free of charge at our shipping warehouse at the address listed in the imprint.
2. Meaning of the battery symbols
Batteries are marked with the symbol of a crossed-out wheeled bin (see below). This symbol indicates that batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. For batteries containing more than 0.0005 percent mercury by mass, more than 0.002 percent cadmium by mass, or more than 0.004 percent lead by mass, the chemical name of the pollutant used is located below the wheeled bin symbol – where "Cd" stands for cadmium, "Pb" for lead, and "Hg" for mercury.

Description
Gossen Sixtomat Light Meter with Case
Condition and Limitations
Condition: well used.
The housing shows slight signs of wear consistent with age, but remains visually and functionally in very good condition.
The housing shows only slight signs of wear, such as small scratches or dull spots.
Subject and Light Measurement with the Roller Blind
The classic Gossen Sixtomat uses a roller blind in front of its measuring optics. For subject measurement, it is pushed all the way back; for light measurement, it is pushed forward to the red marks. With the optics unobstructed, you point the device at the subject. With the diffuser pushed forward, you measure from the subject toward the camera. This allows you to distinguish between reflected subject brightness and incident light.
Film Speed and Measuring Cross
The film speed is set using the pulled-out side wheel. Then you turn the knurled setting wheel until the curve of the display and the pointer form the described measuring cross. The manual shows this alignment as a crucial check. You then obtain the appropriate values on the common exposure scale without having to convert a measured numerical value into another table.
Transferring Exposure Values to the Camera
You read the aperture, shutter speed, or light value at the corresponding mark. You transfer the selected combination to the camera and lens. The scale compares several equivalent exposures. You can therefore select a smaller aperture for more depth of field or a shorter time for motion, as long as you stay within the offered combination.
Distinguishing the Classic Version
This text applies to the classic Sixtomat. The functions of a Sixtomat digital or Sixtomat F2 are not attributed to it. The externally similar X3 also has its own manual. The roller blind and measuring cross operation described here is directly documented in the Gossen fold-out manual of the named classic version.
