What we check

  • Bellows: visual inspection for cracks, porous areas and holes – i.e. light tightness
  • Matting disc: present, surface checked for scratches and clouding – light dust is normal
  • Shutter: all speeds fire through, even operation
  • Front lens: for scratches, haze and fungus

What we don’t check

  • The accuracy of the shutter speeds
  • Compatibility with specific film holders or backs

Condition grades found here

Good, Acceptable, Partially Defective and Defective. On plate cameras, the bellows is the critical component – if it is light-leaking, the film will be exposed before you release the shutter.

What the grades mean exactly can be found under Condition of analog cameras. You can find the overview of all product types under Item condition.
