What we check

  • Shutter mechanism: fires reliably and resets cleanly
  • Film transport: runs smoothly, does not jam, and winds reliably
  • Bellows: surface condition and, above all, light tightness – light dust is normal
  • Shutter: all speeds work, smooth operation
  • Viewfinder image: visible, without major dirt
  • Light meter, depending on the model: responds plausibly to light
  • Front lens: checked for scratches, haze, and fungus

What we do not check

  • Film counter
  • Self-timer
  • The accuracy of shutter speeds and the light meter

Condition grades found here

Good, Acceptable, Partially Defective, and Defective. The bellows is the component that ages most frequently in folding cameras – that is why we check it separately for light tightness.

What the grades mean exactly can be found under Condition of analog cameras. You can find the overview of all product types under Item condition.
